Pre-cast Stair Treads.

Developed by us to meet the growing demand for aesthetically pleasing architectural features, our pre-cast stair treads will add a new dimension to any building project. This versatile construction can be used in isolation as an individual feature or enables complete continuity of finishes when installed in conjunction with our floorlight walkway panels.

"Stop Press" - We can now offer a 75mm thick construction, our reference type RC254/75. Ideal for stair treads with further weight savings over currently published constructions. We do not have data sheets available at the present time, for further details of this new product, please contact our Technical Department.

Our stair treads can be used internally or externally as the images below demonstrate.

Most of our glazed pavement light and floorlight design formats are suitable for use as stair treads, click here to view pavement light constructions / click here to view floorlight & rooflight constructions. The same choice applies to the variety of different glass lenses and flooring blocks that we can incorporate including sandblasted and coloured glass options.

In addition, the same choices of concrete colours, textures and surface finishes available to our flooring constructions can be designed into our pre-cast stair treads including smooth trowelled concrete and exposed aggregate. We can also cast in pre-formed nosing profiles, carborundum strips and even corporate signage – check out our Doctor Martens photo images. As with all our products, Luxcrete pre-cast stairtreads will be supplied compliant with the slip resistance standards with BS5395 – Code of Practice for design of stairs and for loading requirements to BS6399 : Part 1. Within the design it is generally recommended to incorporate a bull nose profile to the upper leading edge or to both upper and lower leading edges.

All stair treads are made to bespoke requirements and are supplied in pre-cast format only, enabling rapid installation on site. Threaded sockets are cast into the underside thus providing the simplest method of fixing within a steel stringer type staircase, level and shim the stair tread on the stringer cleats before bolting down and the job is done.

Cantilever type stair treads can be supplied as seen in the image below. The treads were built in as construction of the walls progressed leaving a unique open plan form type rise of stairs.
